In my law practice," Mike says, "I saw clients struggling with business issues far more often than legal issues. They often asked me questions about accounting, goal-setting, time management, and even marketing. These were simply not issues law school prepared me to address. Later, Mike grew a successful business to nearly 100 employees largely by trial and error until he learned to systematize his efforts. Mike remembers, "After becoming a student of business, I discovered that all successful businesses had several common features. Studying and systematically applying those features to my own business allowed me to build it to a high level of profitability and to merge it into a larger competing company. That process taught me that a business is no more than an artful combination of quality people and systems. I simply had to get very clear about where I was going, learn to accurately measure my progress along the journey, and attract quality people who were eager to get there with me." Recognizing a growing need for mentorship and coaching among both new and seasoned business owners, Mike began to assemble his study and experience into a workable model he could share with other business owners. "The formation of the Winsor Kaizen Coaching Model used by Main Street Coach," says Mike, "grew out of my desire to help other business owners build profitable businesses. I began to see a real hunger for answers. I knew several small business owners who were struggling with low margins, endless work days and family pressures. I knew few business owners had the time, patience or desire to read the hundreds of books I had read to achieve success in my businesses. If only I could distill my study and experience to a single, precise, workable model, I hoped I could help other business owners achieve what they were seeking in their businesses."
